Free access to Archaeology, Conservation and Heritage journals from Maney publishing until 26th April

Publishers Maney have made available 43 of their Archaeology, Conservation and Heritage titles for two weeks until 26th April. These are open access and there is no need to use any special logins, so enjoy! Titles accessible at this time include Textile History, Brontë Society Transactions and Studies in Conservation. Trial to AMED – Allied and Complementary Medicine Database

At the request of Health and Community Studies, we have set up a trial to AMED (Allied and Complementary Medicine Database). AMED is an “alternative medicine database designed for physicians, therapists, medical researchers and clinicians looking to learn more about alternative treatments. Contained in this database are basic bibliographic records for relevant articles from hundreds of journals. Abstracts are also included for many records, dated back over 17 years.”

The trial will be available until April 17th and can be accessed via this link. It is available both on- and off-campus. For off-campus access to this trial, you will need to choose the “Select region” option and find the University of Bolton on the resulting list.

Trial to Cambridge Journals Online

We currently have trial access to Cambridge Journals Online (CJO) from now until the end of February. CJO is a collection of 300 peer-reviewed journals published by Cambridge University Press. Trial to Routledge English Historical Documents

We are currently trialling Routledge English Historical Documents, a collection of annotated documents on British history. The aim of English Historical Documents, which was conceived during the Second World War and was first made available in 1953, to preserve important historical documents in perpetuity. Included in this resource are treaties, statutes, declarations, official proceedings, sermons, newspaper articles and letters, among other types of sources.

The trial is available until 17th December 2014, and can be accessed here. On-campus, there is no need to login. Off-campus, just login with your usual Bolton network ID when prompted to do so.

Trial to Berg Fashion Library available

We have signed up for a trial to the Berg Fashion Library. The trial will be available for the next three months. The Berg Fashion Library “is a unique online portal which offers fully cross-searchable access to an expanding range of Berg content collections – including the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion online, e-books, reference works, images, and much more. Students and scholars in disciplines as diverse as anthropology, art history, history, sociology, geography, folklore, museum studies, theatre, and cultural studies as well as fashion and textiles will find the Berg Fashion Library a treasury of fascinating insights into people and cultures all over the world.”

Trial to Literary Encyclopedia

We have set up a trial to Literary Encyclopedia until June 15th. Literary Encyclopedia is an online literary reference resource, publishing biographies of over 7,000 writers, descriptions of nearly 32,000 works (including philosophical and scientific) and descriptions of literary topics and events. All information included within the resource have been commissioned and checked by around 50 specialised editors. In addition, Literary Encyclopedia is a research project in its own right, aiming to describe as many neglected and marginalised works as possible.

New: trial to Drama Online

We currently have a 60-day trial to Drama Online, a resource that can used in the study of drama as well as literature. A searchable collection of resources that is growing continually, the resource includes student editions, first-night versions of plays, the Arden Shakespear series, modern classics as well as ancient plays and a number of major foreign works in translation. It also offers annotations, synopses and surveys of theatres.

Trial to Encylopaedia Britannica Academic Edition

New! We currently are trialling Encylopaedia Britannica Academic Edition Online (until 7th March). This is a searchable, online version of the Encylopaedia Britannica, and includes access to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Free parliamentary records between now and the General Election

In the final few days leading up to the UK General Election on 6 May, Justis is offering free access to its online resource of parliamentary records. To access the free resource, go to http://www.justis.com/freeparliament and click on the “Register as a Personal User” button, taking note of the username and password provided by the site. Once personal registration has been completed, you’ll have access to the resource until 6 May.
