Continuing problems with Elsevier resources (ScienceDirect and Scopus)

Unfortunately, the problems we were experiencing with ScienceDirect and Scopus are on going, and currently neither resource is available. This problem is affecting most UK universities, and as yet, we don’t have any indication of when the problem might be resolved. Keep checking this blog for further updates. It would seem that we are experiencing problems accessing ScienceDirect and Scopus at the moment due to a system-wide outage that is affecting many customers. The problem is being worked on by the suppliers and it is hoped will be resolved as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Login issues with ScienceDirect

I think it’s safe to say that January 2015 has been one of the busier months for a while in terms of resource access issues…! This time, we seem to be experiencing issues with logging in with ScienceDirect. It has come to light that once you have logged in via the University of Bolton electronic resources login page, an additional screen can be seen which asks you to chose your institution. The screen that you will see looks like this:

 

sd 26.1.15It would appear that you can close the window and proceed as normal. It is not known when this appeared, but other universities have reported a similar issue, and have been in contact with the provide for further advice. So, in the meantime, if you see this box appear, just close the box by clicking on the cross in the top right-hand corner of this pop-up. Failing, that follow the link to “University of Bolton” until you are taken to the resource.
