RefWorks in Discover@Bolton currently unavailable

So RefWorks within Discover@Bolton isn’t working at the moment (you could say it isn’t feeling the love… see what I did there…). RefWorks itself is working, so you’ll need to login independently – i.e. not from within Discover@Bolton – if you need to access it. This is part of a widespread problem that is affecting many users, and is being worked on. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Aah, I couldn’t even get to lunchtime without having to report a problem. There would appear to be some problems with RefWorks at the moment, which may mean that registered accounts are not being recognised. Current advice would appear to be that if you are asked to enter a registered e-maile address, don’t: it may be the case that your account – in other words, all the references that you have stored – may be lost. This problem is being experienced by RefWorks users throughout the UK and has been reported to the suppliers.

We are currently experiencing problems accessing RefWorks. The problem has been reported and it is hoped that the issue will be resolved as soon as possible. Forthcoming resource maintenance: RefWorks and ProQuest

I hope everyone’s having a lovely summer so far. The weather’s not been to bad, and by all accountst we’re in for yet more warm weather.

Two of our resources will be subject maintenance over the coming weekend. RefWorks will be unavailale from 3.00 a.m. until 9.00 a.m. on Sunday 25th August due to essential maintenance being undertaken to improve storage. ProQuest databases will also not be available on Sunday 25th August from 3.00 a.m. until 11.00 a.m.

RefWorks 2.0

The University has switched to a newer version of its bibliographical management software, RefWorks.

If you are a RefWorks user who would prefer to stick with a familiar interface, RefWorks Classic is still being supported and can be accessed via the link on the top right of the RefWorks screen. The new interface is designed to be easier to navigate and more visually appealing, so why not give it a go?

Changes to Write-n-Cite are in the air as well, with the launch of v4 expected some time this year.
